Who We Are

Tom Johnson Managing Partner

A member of the fourth generation of his family to farm in Mendocino County, Tom bought a tired vineyard in Redwood Valley in 1987 that was much in need of attention. Over the course of the next 5 years, Tom replanted old vines and nurtured the vineyard, brining it to full production. In 1998 Tom tried something new – he had wine made from his vineyard’s grapes and Silversmith Vineyards was born.

Tom’s love for farming runs deep. He grew up on a ranch where his father raised hops, pears, grapes and horses a few miles south of where Silversmith Vineyards now stands. In addition to his grapes, Tom also grows several varieties of apples, peaches and nectarines on his Redwood Valley property.

Tom runs all operations for Silversmith Vineyards and pours wine in his new tasting room for visitors every weekend. He currently resides in Redwood Valley and has two grown children – Stephanie and Matthew.

Stephanie Johnson Partner

A Realtor with a background in Internet marketing, Stephanie acts as an advisor to Silversmith Vineyards. Previously, Stephanie worked for Brand Farm, a New York-based Internet incubator that develops online commerce and service companies. While there, Stephanie directed investment relations efforts and executed marketing initiatives.

She resides in San Francisco, CA.

Matthew Johnson Partner

Currently a working actor and voice over artist for national consumer brands, Matthew helped bring the vineyard into full production from 1987-'93. Matthew began his career in advertising, where he helped to create national campaigns for some of the world's leading brands including Budweiser, PepsiCo., Microsoft, Isuzu and Sega.

Matthew resides in Venice, CA and acts as an advisor to Silversmith Vineyards.
